Memories of Timber Lake Playhouse

After living in the area all these years, we never attended TLP, forgot it existed. Then an elderly gentle man moved in next door and in 1989 invited us to attend the play Independence Day. Jack and I were amazed with the actors and their expertise. It was great.

So in 1990 we invited Jack’s sister Shirley and brother-in-law Jerry to attend their first play Steel Magnolias. Jerry and Shirley had just lost their young daughter in a car accident, Jack and I soon realized this was not the proper play to take them to, we were all crying! How I remembered that as we watched Steel Magnolias this year. This did not stop them from attending other plays, Shirley would run up to stage afterwards and had actors sign her book.

After 1990 Jack and I bought season tickets every year. We believed in TLP so much that we became a sponsor. We assisted in getting new seats at TLP with our donation, after all this is our wonderful summer entertainment! We faithfully attended every show.

Then June 18, 2005 I was in a severe car accident with severe injuries in which my car burned. I was so upset because my TLP tickets were in my purse. My insurance agent called TLP and spoke with Pam Sorg. Pam was wonderful; she sent me a nice note with tickets. Little did I know that I would be laid up for 9 months? I could hardly wait for next summer to get here so I could get back to TLP.

The last 4 years we started a family tradition by taking our children, their spouses, and our grandchildren to one play a season. It is always a great family night. We also brought family members from Arizona whom enjoyed the plays.

There are great memories, Jack was in first row when pulled out by actress and had to dance, we could never sit in front row again. When he was in aisle seat got pulled out again to dance, he is insistent I get seats in row center D! Oh yes the box lunches, then eating in big tent and now at restaurant! Also now the more modern restrooms!

Jack and I can not thank TLP enough for bringing so many memories and happiness to our family.
